I’ve just completed my first week in Canada, woooooo!
A friend and I spent two nights in Vancouver before coming to Kelowna and the snow mountain Big White (run by Aussies – HAHA!) Come to mention it, it seems like half of Canada is Australian, it’s weird!
We’ve been snowboarding for the last 6 days now and I am WRECKED… not to mention bumped and bruised (you’ll see what I mean)…
Here’s some pics from the trip so far:

View of the mountains from the Ski Village

Big White village – very cool!

Me takin a rest – Boarding is HARD work!

Beautiful setting.

View from the window of our hotel room – great to wake up to!
And finally…
The result of a head first face plant into the snow at full speed:

I’ll be posting more photos soon!
Gosh holidays are great

Better just come home now hey!!
Hi Andrew – was great to meet up at Big White. Here’s one of the pictures we took. I sent you links to the rest.
PS Hey nice face plant souvenir
Cheers.
Hi Andrew,
I live not so very far from Calgary (about 8 hours), but I live in Saskatchewan, not Alberta. As my Dad was born in Perth, I’m kind of fond of you Aussies!! Keep up the good work & make sure you get home safe!!
Hey Ardis,
Oh cool, where abouts in Saskatchewan? We we’re going to keep driving that far but had to change plans. I hear it’s pretty nice out that way.
And yeah, I can’t get over how many Aussies there are here, it’s crazy!
Hi again Andrew,
Live north of Prince Albert–at a Lake resort. We just moved here 6 months ago, but have had a cabin here for many years. I love feeding the deer (out of my hand) & all the birds & squirrels, etc. My Dad was a bee breeder & developed his own strain that’s known nation wide. He used to go to Australia to work for bee breeders during our cold Canadian winters. I live in the central part of the province–not down south where there’s no trees & it’s flat. Up here, we have beautiful lakes & pine tree forests. Also, this is a game preserve, so that’s why the deer are not as wild as they would be otherwise. I just wish everyone could experience how to live this way, but I guess many city-dwellers would think we’re “bushed”. However, we’re not in the boonies, LOL!! Take care–too bad you couldn’t get to see (what we call northern) Sask.
Hey Andrew. Remember the concept of “overdelivering”… Thats just a scratch brother…
Safe journeys!!!
Lovely bruise Andy but at least you missed the tree!
alex
Andrew…if you’re back in Vancouver let me know… Whistler?…Bill
Hi Andrew:
Are you coming to Toronto?? When I first moved here I thought a lot of Canada was like Australia (unfortunately NOT the climate) – wide roads, big trees, even the open style of houses. I think out west there are lots of Aussies – after all both countries share the Pacific and flying north from Sydney, the first stop in Canada will be beautiful Vancouver (which I find is also a lot like beautiful Sydney…). Have fun and enjoy Canada.
Hi Andrew,
I just got off the phone with Tim Carter and I may come meet you, with him if it works out.
I love skiing so if you are here long enough maybe we could hook up for a day at the mountains.
Sincerely
Gary Garnett
