First, this isn’t some cunning trick, or fancy new social network site that can allow you to get quick rankings.
I consider this an illustration of a foundational yet much overlooked principle of [tag]SEO[/tag].
First, here’s what happened.
We have a blog in a very popular niche. This morning we made a post on a particular keyword – not an extremely popular one – just 370 000 competing pages in Google (term not in quotes). But there are some quality pages on page 1 – amazon has a few listings etc.
So we made this post to our blog and in two hours we had position 1, the url of our post, and position 2, the front page of our blog which contained an excerpt of the post (a very important practice for SEO by the way – not posting the full post on the blog’s front page so you don’t have duplicate content
)
How did we get ranked so fast?
Because we have a STRONG DOMAIN…
Our main domain is only PR3 – but it’s about 18 months old, it has over 500 unique articles across 20 something categories – hundreds of links from quality related sites – and we post new unique content every day.
It’s that simple.
This means we get spidered quickly and frequently, and new content we post gets ranked high, FAST.
Now of course you don’t see this advice in ebooks for sale because who in our “instant results” culture is going to come out and recommend someone “Spend 18 months building up quality content”… no one.
The thing is if you do – what you have is something tremendously powerful…
Your very own personal Ezinearticles.com or squidoo.com – but better!
You have a trusted, solid domain name, on which any content you submit will dominate lowly competitive phrases in the SE’s EXTREMELY quickly…
- not only that but you have an ezinearticles.com with no submission guidelines, no limits to what, how when or why you can add content, and where YOU make money off the content you publish, not someone else.
Who’s willing to spend 18 months to achieve that?
I can tell you it’s more than worth it.

I follow your methods.
In just a span of 3+ months. My niche site went from PR0-PR5 when google last update.
It takes patience to build up links and wait for your site to show up in search engine. But once it did, you will feel it’s worth it.
But my site is not crawled as fast as yours. I wonder why? Maybe it’s my blog posting frequency?
Alex,
Yes alot of factors come into the play for the frequency of your crawling – incoming links, number of content pages, search engine positions, age of domain, what sites you ping etc
Sounds like you’re definitely on the right track!
Andrew
Nicely done! Iv been using a similar formula to make a bit of money. Using old domain names and lists of long tail keywords.
Well, I’ve known that for a while and did try it but got a little too long in teh tooth with wanting instant results that my site was de-indexed
I didnt go back to mummy crying, I just started 3 new ones and things are moving in the right direction albeit slow but at least moving positively
Yes, I still do some black/ gray hat stuff on throw away domains especially for launches but I dare not on my main sites.
Great post thanks
William
