ANOTHER Awesome Link Building Strategy

I really don’t like/want to be one of those bloggers who talks about alot of stuff but never does much of it themselves. If any of you wonder, I still DO the stuff I tell you guys about :)

If you haven’t worked it out yet I’m working hardcore on [tag]link building[/tag] for my niche sites at the moment and I wanted to share with you another strategy I’m testing as of today that I think will work great to bring in some extra links AND traffic…

This is something that got mentioned in by big “19 Resources” post but I wanted to bring it back up here in more detail because I think it could be massively  valuable for anyone who tries it – plus I’ve just started testing it myself so I want to be able to let you know so I can report on the results…

In the 19 Resources post I mentioned how if you have a wordpress blog you can submit the link to CSS directories.

Basically these are directories that list and show sites that have cool or interesting CSS designs – not something most niche marketers like us are known for but something we can take advantage of if we’re willing to go that little step further.

So here’s a list of CSS design sites that you can submit your site to – but DON’T submit them yet…

CSSMania
CSSRemix
BestWebGallery
WebCreme
CSSElite
CSSDrive
CSSHeaven
CSSTux
CSSGlobe
CoolHomePages

Check one of them out so you can get a feel for what they’re like.

Basically you click the submit button, enter your URL and submit your site for it to get displayed in their directory as a site with a cool design.

When you go to submit site at these places, you’ll note the conditions of submission are usually that the site has to display some sort of cool design – in other words your every day wordpress theme might get frowned upon or otherwise not accepted if you submit it.

So here are some ways around that:

1. You can get some simple tweaks made to your current wordpress theme. As well as allowing you to be able to utilize this traffic technique, it will make your blog more user friendly and improve it’s ’stickiness’ greatly. I’d start looking at places like the Digital Point forums or the Warrior Forum and ask if there is someone who can help you to make some tweaks to your design for a small fee – you’ll be surprised how willing people will be to help out.

OR 2. You can try this ZERO cost method…

You all probably know about THIS SCRIPT, that can help you create your own custom wordpress themes… If you didn’t know about it – you might just be thanking me a whole lot right now :) (But don’t get too attached to that script because… well… ah you’ll find out soon ;) )

Basically you go there and make some theme for yourself – you can even insert custom headers (if you google search free banners you might be able to find something that you can edit, or you can download this Free Photoshop Alternative to create your own header.)

You can save the theme from there and upload it to your wordpress. It might take some work if you’ve made changes to your current theme like inserting sidebars etc (in that case, method 1 might be easier) but I’m confident the extra links and traffic will be worth it.

NOW you have a unique theme that no one else will have and you can go on and submit it to the above sites. Keep your eye on your stats to see new links coming in and a few extra uniques from these sites.

Of course the traffic is relatively untargetted but sheesh, so is ‘most’ social network traffic too and people still waste a bunch of their time on that!

That’s really all you need to know to take advantage of this strategy.

I’ll report back to you guys about the results I see but if you’re on the ball, you’ll get stuck straight into this one asap :)

All the best!

Andrew

  1. Hi Andrew,
Great stuff, like always! Thanks for sharing all of your juicy secrets with us ;-)

More great stuff from Andrew. Thanks for all of it.

I can’t wait to implement some more of it, what works for me, but with the
many options you have tried and suggested, I know I’ll get good results.

It’s taken me a while to get the ball rolling with Plug and Play as I have had
a major set back with creating or rewriting articles about the products I
    promote.

I have found that the PLR sites I have researched, don’t really have what
    I’m looking for.

So I went and purchased WCW and WAW and am getting familiar with both
of them and will soon begin to use them to get my project going.
    They are both website wizards.

LOL. I started in Jan 1st. 2007 and have at this point, not much to show
from it. After spending about $1500 on this and that and about a 1000
hours, and many cups of coffee and many cigs., and getting caught in
Info. overload, I’m staying with Andrew and Plug and Play, and whatever
else comes down the pipe from Andrew.

With everything that’s out there, I found it very hard to make this decision,
as the other stuff is very tempting. But the decision HAD to be made.

It finally sunk in that if I keep trying this and that, I’ll just tread water
and go nowhere, like I’ve been doing in 2007.

Oh well, at least I’ve finally learned that lesson. And what a huge relief it’s
been. To only focus on one program instead of many.

Sorry for rambling, I guess I’m in the talkative mood at the moment. And
    thanks for reading.

    Trevor

    PS

Merry Christmas Merry Christmas Merry Christmas
    Happy Holidays?? LOL.

I work through X-mas. So I don’t have Happy Holidays, but I do have a
Merry Christmas. Don’t be afraid to say it.

  3. Hi Andrew,
    Top notch, as always.
One interesting fact you left out is the relatively high PR these sites have:
    CSSMania PR7
    CSSRemix PR6
    BestWebGallery PR6
    WebCreme PR6
    CSSElite PR3
    CSSDrive PR5
    CSSHeaven PR5
    CSSTux PR5
    CSSGlobe PR5
    CoolHomePagesPR4
One quibble: the link in CSSGlobe goes to CoolHomePages.
Any follow-up findings on CSS Directories?
    Best wishes,
    Oran
