This is a guest post by an author many of you know and love – Tiffany Dow. She discusses the process of finding quality hosting if you’re an affilitate.
Affiliate marketers get to eliminate time and money expenses when it comes to the product creation process because they’re simply promoting things created by other people. But it’s still good to have a web presence for your promotions – which would include a domain and hosting services.
Today we’re going to talk about how to conduct a website hosting review specifically for the affiliate marketer – with all of your needs in mind. There are five very important criteria to consider when choosing a web host for your content:
#1 Customer Service
I don’t care how cheap a company’s plan is, how many bells and whistles they have, or how many customers rave about them. If their customer service is lacking, then an affiliate could find themselves frustrated and stalled in their success.
You want a hosting company whose customer service reps are available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. You want them to be available by phone or by live online chat.
As an affiliate, you may have a limited amount of knowledge when it comes to technical issues – or you may be very experienced, so the service should cater to you on any level, from extreme hand holding (in a friendly manner) to quick and easy instructions if you’re in a rush.
#2 Unlimited Bandwidth
Did you know that some hosting companies charge their customers based on how much bandwidth you use? This could be a nightmare for an affiliate marketer who likes to use a multi media approach to promoting other people’s products.
As you build your list of subscribers and begin sending more traffic to your sites, you’ll need an increased volume of bandwidth. It’s better to start off with an unlimited plan so you’re not always having to worry about whether or not you’re about to exceed your allowed usage.
#3 Unlimited Domains
With affiliate marketing, whether you’re promoting digital or tangible products, you have the potential to rank high and fast if your site is extremely targeted. So you want to be able to launch sites on the fly – without having to secure a separate hosting account for each one.
Having individual hosting accounts could become costly, especially as you wait for the site to take root in Google, getting indexed and securing enough traffic that translates into conversions.
It’s better, when you’re conducting a website hosting review of potential companies, to consider one that offers unlimited domain usage for you. This gives you the freedom to launch, test and tweak a variety of URLs for your affiliate marketing efforts.
#4 Ease of Use
Not all hosting companies are created equally. You want one with an easy to use dashboard, something where the bells and whistles they provide are welcomed additions, not confusing ones.
A host with a traditional cPanel (control panel) is laid out well, organizing its elements in sections (like all mail icons in one group, all security items in one section, and so on).
#5 Price
We can’t ignore that price is an important factor when it comes to an affiliate marketer’s web hosting considerations. Many of you may be just starting out on a shoestring budget, and you can’t afford premium hosting services.
Guess what?
You don’t need to. Affordable, shared server hosting with unlimited domains, unlimited bandwidth and email accounts are perfect for your needs. Don’t associate price with quality, either.
Many marketers have been sorely let down because they invested a lot of money for what was supposed to be superior hosting, only to find that the masses were right in choosing a website hosting company that meets the needs of the customer, while keeping costs low.
