I call this digging holes and have spent probably the best part of two years digging holes everywhere but only taking the top soil off and not going deep. This year I'm using the porcupine stick my spikes out and staying focused. :)

Wow, great post Andrew! I'm amazed (though not surprised) that the results of the experiment relate almost directly with the internet marketing field and those who change from one opportunity to the next.

I know when I was first starting out, I couldn't stand the "slow" pace in the beginning. I hated how I wrote articles, but had to wait nearly a week for them to get approved! I was working hard each day and getting nothing in return, so that "opportunity" looked very, very attractive.

So I fell into the trap of opportunity hopping in the beginning, but thankfully I finally got myself straightened out, stuck with my simple schedule, built my list up, and am now working solely online!

Needless to say, I definitely learned the hard way. Unfortunately, most people on that path end up giving up before seeing it all the way through to success. But to speed things up quicker, I wish I would have read THIS post back then!

Thanks for the great article.

That is ecxactly what's been happening to me. I've been jumping from one program to another system, making small amount of money in each one... This article has been an eye opener, now I', going back to the system which has made the most money and stick with it. By the way, your greay Andrew; someone refers me to this blog and now I see why...

WOW!! That was an awesome post! And one I MUST take to heart as I am often tempted to change directions (and many times do) - which only puts me further from my goals! Boy oh boy the time I've wasted and the money not made! Now let's see what a little focus will do...

Hi Andrew,
That is an interesting experiment but though I agree with you 100% on the opportunity hopping thing being a mistake, the conclusion from the experiment would be that it is better to stay in a boring job than it is to 'hop' into internet marketing.
If you never take a chance or try new things, things will always stay the same but hopping from one thing to another to another will never give you time to achieve anything either.
