I don’t know if you guys have seen all the hype surrounding the 13 year old kid marketer but if not here goes…
So there’s this kid…
He’s been messing around with marketing online, blogging, ppc all that stuff since the ripe old age of 11… *cough*
He found himself a mentor, got right into it and the next thing he knows, he’s being interviewed by the BBC in England about how to setup a blog…
Why he’s not skateboarding and playing video games, I don’t know.
Anyway he launched his first product today…
A 230 page ebook on how he’s been cashing in with affiliate marketing, viral video, podcasting, you name it.
He’d contacted me a couple of months prior regarding an interview that he wanted to use as part of an upsell to his ebook offer.
Can you hear what I’m saying…
A 13 year old kid!
He’s somehow managed to get around the issues with setting up bank and Paypal accounts, receiving and banking large checks, getting people to freakin listen to him when he’s freakin 13 years old…
So I heard about his launch and managed to get in contact with him on Skype.
To be honest I was still wondering if it was for real (and frankly I STILL wonder if it’s not some adult pulling some marketing stunt) but I decided to have a chat.
So he gets on the phone, we chat briefly, he responds intelligently yet in his pre-pubescent high pitched voice (which is extra freaky when you hear the marketing talk coming out of his mouth), and the conversation ends.
I tell him I’m still not convinced so he jumps on video chat.
Next thing I’m sitting looking at this goofy, big teethed little fella, sitting on (what I assume was) his laptop, his bunk bed in the background, and his mum monitoring the conversation off screen to make sure my language was nice and clean
His report, while enormous and displaying a deep knowledge wasn’t quite worth me recommending to you (at 230 pages I KNOW you wouldn’t have read even half of it) but there is a point to this post.
This kid is rakes in thousands per month and is now about to pull of a 6 figure product launch…
WHAT’S YOUR EXCUSE??

Wow… That’s pretty amazing.
Not going to buy his book. I would like to know who his mentor is though. =)
Jason,
Crazy huh?
Probably not prudent of me say names but his mentor is an IMer that you’d know, has released products etc. A nice, experienced dude.
Yeah, I heard about that launch too and thought about promoting it myself. In the end, I decided not to because these days I can only handle 1-2 product promos per month (so I picked Firepow and another one due out on 2/26). The 13 y/o kid your referring to isn’t the only one though … there’s a 13 y/o blogger that’s raking it in too. He even holds the #3 spot on Google for the term “make money online” – wow!
my excuse is…. I don’t have a good mentor… (don’t tell JB
Just kidding…getting there…slowly but surely!

My excuse….Hmmmm…That I’m not 13 and can use that as a great marketing ploy…most importantly though it would have to be the knowledge. Once I know what this kid knows…well obviously the sky is the limit.
Just wondering why you’re not recommending the kid’s product (besides the fact that it seems to be a lot to absorb). Is his sales letter mostly hype? Because it sounds like he could help some of us newbie “strugglers” to get at least some fast cash flow going (even if not in the amounts he talks about).
Hi Andrew,
I saw the sales page for this kid’s product and it’s very persuasive.
It was at that moment that your post on product launch groupies came to mind. This is an illness that I suffer from and am desperately trying to recover from.
Evan,
Yes, hehe I sent him some material to help with that letter
Tina,
Perhaps I’ll take another look at the report and see if there’s anything that will help. Alot of it is about PPC and follows along the lines of Day Job Killer and such but there’s some stuff about blogging too… also it’s $97 which although it’s huge and probably worth it, I’m cheap and have never actually promoted something of that price :$
If you’d like a copy let me know and I’ll get an affiliate account and offer a small rebate perhaps…
Andrew, thanks for your reply. I think my problem is similar to Evan’s: I too get “sucked into” some of these launches thinking it is the “answer.” I’d rather NOT buy another product! Guess I should just focus on what I have – several of your things included! If you need an entry topic for your blog, how about another review of the absolute best and fastest way for someone just to get some cashflow going with this internet thing. Just a simple 1, 2, 3….knowing that much more detail is involved of course, but just a “kick start” kind of!
I do enjoy reading your tips, etc. You seem very genuine and know what you’re doing. Thanks!
Tina,
Aww, thanks for the kind words
You’re right alot of the time it is about getting caught up in the excitement of a new product launch.
In fact I’m writing something at the moment that’s a bit like what you described, really simple 1,2,3 to making some money online kinda deal – I think you’ll enjoy it.
Keep your eye on the blog for more details.
“Crazy huh?
Probably not prudent of me say names but his mentor is an IMer that you’d know, has released products etc. A nice, experienced dude.”
Some people are born geniuses… Others like me actually have to slave at it, become an intense student, and wait until “it finally clicks.”
Andrew, think about when this kid goes to the mall with his 13-year-old friends carrying a fat wad of cash… LOL…
There’s actually alot in it. I’ve only skimmed it because I couldn’t sit and read 230 pages but it’s very comprehensive. I actually got it for my hubby because surely if a 13 year old can do it he can! The word on the grapevine is that he’s ‘friends’ with Chris McNeeney – no wonder it did so well…
Hamida,
As David (the 13 year old) and Chris both live in Manchester, that wouldn’t surprise me, in fact I was thinking that was very likely, in particular from the style.
I first heard of him from John Taylor (who I believe also frequents this blog
, and who lives about 60-70 miles from me, though we have yet to meet), and since then from Jason Moffatt and Michael Cheney.
I thought about checking out his product, but decided to resist the temptation after all and concentrate on using what I have amassed already….
Tina,
You used the phrase “kick start”, and that is the catchword for where you can find something along the lines you are looking for.
Martin Avis writes a newsletter of the same name (in fact that’s how I found Andrew), three times a week, and he has just started doing a “right from the basics” series a few days ago, which is due to be put on a blog, which he is apparently going to show how to build in the course…

Paul,
thanks for the tip on the “kick start” newsletter…I’m going to check it out.
I have also decided NOT to succumb to the temptation of yet another product. That strategy is getting me nowhere, that’s for sure. I know the answer to all this, as I’m sure everyone reading this does: ACTION. Why is that so much easier said than done?!
Oh well, got to start somewhere!
