Starting With The End In Mind

This is probably advice that you’ve heard before, but let me put it to you in a potentially new light.

First, think about this…

I guarantee each of you, when you sit down to the computer each day, is asking certain questions mentally.

Questions like:

“How can I make some damn money from this thing?”

Whether you realize it or not, the questions you’re asking, determine the results you’re getting.

That’s not just some motivational motto either, that’s a literal reality. Let me explain…

Whether you ask “How can I make $100 a day?” or “How can I make $10 000 a day?”, that question takes you on a path.

If when you sit down, you ask “how can I make $100 a day?” – and you see a forum thread, a blog post, or a web page called “how I make $10 000 a day online” – are you more or less likely to read it?

Less.

Even if you did read it, you’d probably say something like “oh well I don’t need $10 000 a day, I don’t think that method’s right for me”.

If when you sit down, you ask the question “How can I make $10 000 a day?”, and you see a webpage, blog post, or forum thread entitled “how to make $100 a day online easily”, are you more or less likely to read it?

Less.

“$100 a day, pfffft, bar that – not even worth my time reading!”

And so your questions, in a VERY literal way, FILTER your learning. The information you see each day is decided by the question you asked before you started searching for it. It’s not like you just randomly stumble across information online and if you happen to find the “good” information, you’re going to make money – what you find is what you search for.

Think about it…

If there was an ultimate guru of the internet, someone who knew everything there was to know about making money online, and you asked him:

“How do I make $100 a day online?”

And then

“How do I make $10 000 a day online?”

How different do you think his two answers would be?

HUGELY different.

That means, that if you’re trying to make $100 a day, you need to DO different things than if you’re trying to make $10 000 a day!

It means you need to learn different skill sets, get information from different people, connect with different people – you name it, it’s different.

The point of this post isn’t to say “aim high” or “ask good questions” or something token like that.

What I’d hope that you’d take away is the knowledge that whatever you’re learning and the results you’re getting are based on the questions you’re asking – they’re based on YOU!

By starting with the end in mind, you shape your journey. By choosing your destination before you begin, you indirectly nominate your path.

Start with the end in mind this week, and see how it changes what you learn and how productive you are.
