More Value Equals More Money

I got to thinking the other day about my own blogging.

You probably know I’m not a full time blogger, in fact, this blog is a relatively tiny part of my online business.

I try to publish great content and really give awesome value to you, the reader of this blog.

I got a bit deflated the other day thinking “Should I even bother blogging?” There are SO many people who blog about making money on the internet that I began to wonder whether my humble little blog even mattered…

“I know I’m not going to become a Problogger, or a Shoemoney”, I reasoned, “Should I even continue?”

It was after tossing around this notion for a couple of days that I remembered a fundamental principle of wealth creation, contained within it is a POWERFUL lesson for us niche marketers.

The principle I’m talking about is that you make money by being of value to some group of people.

When you put up a niche site, (or an adwords campaign, or an article for that matter) you have the value of bringing together a merchant with a product, and an interested customer. You are valuable to the merchant AND to the customer, and so assuming you do everything right, you get paid a commission.

Your mission is to find a niche and provide value to it right?

I’m sure you know this, but here’s the next level:

To make MORE money then… there’s two things you can do:

You can work out how to provide that same level of value to more people (the issue I was deflated by was wondering how I could reach more people than the bigger bloggers)

OR, you can provide MORE value, to the same number of people…

You see the difference?

If you want to double the profits of your niche site, you don’t necessarily have to get double as much traffic. You just have to be double as valuable to the traffic you do have – in other words, you have to make twice as many sales from that same number of visitors.

How do you do that?

Offer them higher priced products, get them onto your email list, hit them with autoresponders to encourage ongoing purchases, upsell them after you initial affiliate offers…

There are SO many ways.

I started thinking hang on, I don’t need to be a Shoemoney or Problogger, my blog provides value for a smaller group of people, I just need to be MORE valuable to those people. And so I began on that train of thought – one which was far more enlightening!

Maybe it’s something you should take into consideration when you make your next niche site, or start your next marketing task…
