Lately as I’ve been going back the ‘beginning’ of my online marketing days to do these case studies for the Firepow forum members, I’ve been getting very obsessed with one goal, or question…
“How could anyone starting develop a great lasting income as quickly as possible?”
I think it’s a question alot, well let’s face it ALL people getting started online want to ask – but it’s a bad question and I’m going to tell you why.
I’ve said this so many times but there will never be a time when repeating it won’t be pertinent:
The fallacy of making money online is something that’s been sold and sold to people but it’s just that, a fallacy. You don’t make money online, you build a business!
Yes, a real business, with expenses, with initial investment on which you attempt to make a return after a period of time.
Where you focus on building it with the single strategy you’ve laid out for that business – until it returns a profit.
Expenses? Return on investment? Single strategy? Making money after a period of time?
How often do you hear those words being talked about on “make money” blogs or sales letters?
You don’t. That’s the answer.
The reason the initial question, “How could anyone starting develop a great lasting income as quickly as possible?” is so bad, is that people asking it come to the inevitable situation where they DIDN’T make money “as quickly as possible”.
They think they have failed, and so they quit. They quit or they assume the method was wrong and move to another, and so the cycle begins again.
And all because we start out with this mindset that we could quickly generate $1000 a week starting next week! That we’re “makin money online” instead of starting a business.
We have to be honest with ourselves and realize that we’re trying to set up a business here. We don’t care if we don’t make money in the first month, we know it’s about investing so that we have something mega profitable in the long term.
Making money online takes TIME!
I’ve been online for approaching 4 years now (man that time’s gone fast) – and it took me at least half of that to realize that I needed a real business if I wanted to make real money.
To give you a great example…
I was speaking to Elysia’s mum last night. Her parents have a mobile phone shop, and they started a website to sell their goods online, more than two years ago.
It gets traffic through search rankings, just like most of us try to do.
They invested a decent sum of money, didn’t see any return for well over a year but NOW…
Things took off – they kept adding content, kept making new products available, and now two years on, the site is blazing.
They have a stack of front page google listings for the name of their products (nmoc style haha) and they earn a great consistent income – some days they’ve done 4 figures in sales over the 24 hours!
I told Rhonda last night about the mentality of many people I sell to where they want to see results within the first month and she promptly recounted to me in disgust that…
“It took two YEARS for our website to be making money!”
She’s from the “real business” mentality – that’s the difference. She considers it a great success to have invested the time and money over those two years to be making that kind of cash now.
So what about you?
Would you spend two years on one method to be pulling $1000 days?
I can’t believe I actually just asked that question.
WILL many people spend two years on one method and generate $1000 days?
Not in our game.
And that’s a real shame.
(insert stupid joke about poetry)
Something to think about…
