Are You JUST Trying To Make Money?

Here’s a thought that came to me yesterday:

Most of us trying to start a business on this intarweb would define their main goal as “To make X amount of money”…

Just take a look at our “08 Goals” post.

Tell me this…

If you picked out 5 people from the world, who are the BEST at achieving this task of making alot of money, how many of them do you think would have “making money” as their main goal?

If I went and asked the Google boys:

“What’s your main goal for 08?” or “What’s the main goal of your company?”

Do you think they’d say:

“We’re really looking to turn over 10 Bill this year”… or “Ultimately I want to make Google a Trillion dollar company”.

I don’t think they’d say that at all.

I think if asked the main goal of their company, they’d say something like “To organize the world’s information and make it useful and accessible” (I got that off their company website )

Do you see where I’m going with this?

The people who are the BEST IN THE WORLD at making money, DON’T have ‘making money’ as their primary goal…

Furthermore, people who DO have ‘making money’ as their primary goal aren’t making the table scraps of what the guys who DON’T are!

Taking it a step further, you wanna know why people in the ‘make money’ niche hop from one opportunity to the next so often?

Because their goal is to make money!

You know how many ways there are to make money?? You could choose literally 49 000 different paths to that destination!

How many ways do you think there are to “organize the world’s information and make it useful and accessible.”

Probably still a few but no where frickin near as many as ways to make money!

You want to make more money this year? Decide what it is you’re really doing with your business! Who are you trying to provide value to and why? What are you REALLY trying to accomplish and how is it going to be important to people?

Even if you’re making little niche review sites like I’ve taught, what’s your purpose in that? Your goal could be “To enhance people’s dieting experience by providing the best quality diet pill reviews on the internet”…

How much differently would you approach your business if that was your desired outcome rather than “to make money”.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for having a goal and wanting to achieve a level of income but I guarantee that if you had the above as your focus rather than “making money” you’d come a heck of a lot closer to actually making money than you ever could before.
