I’ve just developed a new theory of IM.
I think that as a general rule (there are exceptions) it can be said that:
The longer someone has been selling products in the IM niche and the bigger the name they have – the worse their products are. Why? Because the bigger they are, the more friends they have, the more people will promote for them no matter what, so they have no need to produce awesome products. People will promote anyway.
And as a corollary, you can often learn the most and get the most value from the products of IM’ers who are up and coming, who have everything to prove, who HAVE to provide massive value at a low cost to try and make a name for themselves… they sell with their products, not their name, and as people trying to learn IM, they represent a unique opportunity.
That’s all.

Quite spot on!
I stopped listening (=buying) from big names because…
* they stop giving me values
* they are busy pushing their friend’s products
* they hardly share anything (for free)
(I think) they think we will keep giving them all our money, forever
It’s interesting what Hilmy said. I too have got rather sick of just getting promotional emails rather than actionable content and so have unsubscribed from 95% of the mailing lists I was on. No problem selling to me *sometimes* but if I *only* hear from you when you have something to push I’m unsubscribing fast.
On the other hand whilst I think there is some truth in Andrew’s theory, I would also say there are some exceptions to the rule. Without wanting to sound like I’m brown-nosing, I would say I always get good value from a number of internet marketers like Chris Rempel, Josh Spaulding, Jonathon Leger and Neil Shearing to name just a few. Don’t go getting too cynical Andrew
It may be true in some instances. However, I suspect any self respecting pro would have too much pride to produce less than he or she deemed valuable or worthy. Its possible your level of understanding and use for those products have changed – so they may not seem as needed or valuable to you now.
So, can you only ‘make it’ online by creating IM products and selling your name as an internet marketer? Is this just a circle of other IM-ers getting paid by newbie marketers? I’d like to advertise and sell products. Can anyone make it just simply doing that?
