Just when I thought I’d had enough of airports for a while…
Elysia and I will be heading out to The Big Apple this morning for a bit of touristing, and hopefully catchin up with some marketers and peeps we met in DC while we’re there.
I’ll be most interested to see central park, a Broadway show, and ground zero (which I learned recently is strangely slow in being rebuilt, and that the chinese built something like 9 buildings in equivalent size to WTT in just one year leading up to the Beijing Olympics…)
Any recommendations on what else we should do with 5 days there are welcome and appreciated
Oh and if you’re in the area and interested in catching up, let me know!

If you go to Ground Zero, there’s a little courtyard just accross from there which I think is on the corner of Cedar st and Broadway. There’s a couple of vegetarian food stalls there who do these really cheap yummy falafel meals with hummus, tahini, salads and bread. The falafels are freshly made, not like the microwaved ones they mostly do here in Australia. If you like that sort of food, it’s well worth getting a hold of.
I LOVE NYC!
Tell Elysia (if she likes clothes) that she absolutely HAS to go to Century 21. It’s right across from Ground Zero and the most incredible clothing store in existence. They have super-high end brands for incredibly cheap… and shoes… and men’s clothes…
It’s just poetry. I LOVE that place.
You have to try out the nuts there (the Nuts 4 Nuts vendors on the streets) – they’re incredible.
Chinatown is fun to peruse through, and Little Italy… not hugely important but fun if you have extra time.
The Village has lots of funky, eclectic shops… and I love to just sit in Penn Station and people watch.
You’re going to have so much fun! I looove San Diego, but NYC is up there too for best places in existence.
Wow thanks for the great tips guys!
Though Rachel, you didn’t have to encourage MORE shopping, geez – but it sounds cool, we’ll surely check it out
We just went out exploring times square and are loooovin it so far!
Will post some photos soon.
Oooo thanks for the tips guys!
We’re LOVING it! What an awesome city!
DEFINITELY going to Century 21 thanks for the tip Rachel
You must go to the Magnolia Bakery from Sex and the City. It’s where I got the recipe for the pink sugary cupcakes at your going away party! Make sure you take lots of pictures, I’m so jealous :@
