There’s No Such Thing As Motivation

Kind of a bold statement.

But please… if you will… lend me a moment to explain to you why if you’re constantly trying to “get motivated” you might be using unnecessary mental and emotional energy…

Because I believe there’s no motivation, only…

Habits, and states.

Here’s what I mean.

Can you remember a time in your life when you slept 5 hours a night, woke up in the morning to go jogging, worked like a maniac through the day with some serious passion, and fell down exhausted at the end of the day, but excited to get up and do it again?

Or some variation of the above?

And can you remember times when for an extended period of time, you woke up in the morning feeling like the last thing you wanted to do was get anything done, your productivity was low, and you sucked at life (well by your own standards anyway?)

If you’re like me, it’s a resounding yes to both.

But let me ask you another question.

When you were in the first frame of mind, pumped about life, did you find it hard to “get motivated” to go exercise or work crazy hard? Nope, not after the first few times anyway…

Why?

Because you were in the habit of doing so! And to correct myself, you weren’t in a habit of “doing” anything. You were in a habit of “being” in a certain state of mind.

You’ve probably heard the quote that something like 90% of the actions we take every day are out of complete habit. That means we do em just because it’s the same way we did em yesterday and the day before.

No one is unmotivated, they just have a habitual pattern of behaviour, or more accurately, a habitual pattern of thinking that’s less productive or empowering  than it could be.

Remember when you feel like you’re not getting as much done as you could, not making the right decisions the way you think you should, not feeling the way you want to on a daily basis, that you’re just a habit away from changing it.

Remember that it’s only because you’ve gotten in the habit of thinking and doing things in a certain way and that a habit is just a thought or action that you keep repeating. Remember that you are in control of your thoughts and actions and so you can change your habits any time you want to and replace them with better habits as easily as you created the bad set.

Ponder that.

  1. Hey great way to think about it and I do agree it truly is habit and state of mind. Sometime people wonder why they do the things that they do and is just simply habit over time.

    Hi Andrew,

I think I must tell you this.

Over the past 3 years, I have been paying thousands of dollars to attend seminars, buying books, reading countless of ebooks and even audio programs but none of them worked for me.

However, when I read your ‘Niche Marketing On Crack’, and I applied the strategies being taught, I started to make more than my first dollar. I earned hundreds in commissions in both US dollars and UK pounds.

I am not saying other materials suck and they do not work at all. I am just saying they did not really work for me and I am sure there are still people who reap tonnes of money out of the strategies being introduced out there.

I just want to take this opportunity to say a big ‘Thank You’ for writing this amazing ebook and holding nothing back. As a result, I have become your big fan for a while now.

Now I need a little advice. I just want to ask if I have already implemented all the strategies you have mentioned in the ebook, do I just leave the sites there? I am asking this because sales have started to drop.

Or the right strategy to attain good and long term profit should be going wide, which is to start as many niche sites as possible from time to time?

Hope to get an advice from you and once again, thank you very much.

    David Kendrick
